Presentation
While we are hard wired to respond to conflict with fight, flight or freeze, social workers can help couples and families find other alternatives that are respectful and constructive. Divorce therapy will help each person to understand the reasons for the divorce, reach closure, and discuss ways of guiding their children and themselves through the transition. In a related but separate field, mediation is an alternative to the adversarial process in which couples use the guidance of the mediator to reach the decisions that will form their legal agreement. Both fields will be discussed, and some edits of a couple in the mediation process will be shown
